Thomas Jefferson once said that “the cultivators of the earth are the most virtuous and independent of citizens”. No where is this more apparent than along the ‘Great Road’ that winds through Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley.

“Every day, in my travels through the Valley, I am reminded of how bound to the land we are here”, says Melissa of her fortunate choice to live and work in Rockbridge County, Virginia. “I came from farmers and folks who were close to the land and to history.
